Your Mind, is it Friend or Foe?

General Add comments

Our life consciousness has several layers of awareness, physical, sensory awareness, extra sensory faculties, emotional feelings and our inner instinct we call intuition. But our mind remains our dominant and constant companion throughout life. We are aware of our thoughts every moment of the day. It is our mind that commands our character and personality, our feelings, our actions and the path we take in life.

So we have to be sure that it is a good relationship and that our thoughts are comfortable. If we harbour painful or aggressive thoughts they will in time manifest as symptoms of psychological ailments. Negative thoughts can be likened to toxic material and therefore threaten our own well being. So we need to have an understanding of our personality nature and how to maintain a state of harmonious co-operation between each aspect of our nature. We need to assure that no negative or unfriendly influences threaten our peaceful state of mind.

Then our minds can instruct and command us wisely, whether it is to solve a problem, to relieve internal stress, to channel our emotions and affections, to urge us to follow our personal goals and disciplines, and to present us with the motivating and positive thought that makes us awaken in the morning with pleasant anticipation of a new day, with all its unknown joys and challenges.

The mind can only do this if our body and brain are healthy. The most damaging factors regarding the body we already know. We are all familiar with the destructive of brain and body caused by alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and chemical pollutant. So on one hand we must avoid the enemy influences and on the other develop fitness programmes that will ensure total health. The healthy state of mental fitness allows us to fully utilize our faculties and talents and lead us into new and interesting studies of nature and the sciences.

The mind under these conditions will be an interesting companion. This is not so if we suffer anxieties and exaggerated concerns beyond what is warranted. Then our thoughts will begin to get out of hand and fill our brain with unwelcome chatter and confused ideas.

Instead of such a likelihood we must ensure our mind is our friend, not an enemy. Learn the natural rules that will ensure our mental fitness and be as eager to follow them as we do our physical health practices.
